Are you an experienced project engineer with a deep understanding of mechanical engineering, and with a passion for challenging problems? Would you like to help the ATLAS Technical Coordination team operate and maintain a unique particle physics detector by playing a key role in resources planning? Make use of your skills to meet the demanding performance and efficiency requirements of one of the largest particle-physics experiments in the world. CERN, Take Part!
Planning, Resource and Project Engineer in the Experimental Physics (EP) Department, ATLAS Detector Operation (ADO) group, Project Office Section (PO).
You will join :
•The Experimental Physics (EP) Department which encompasses the experimental particle physics activities in the Organization;
•The CERN Project Office (PO) Section of the ATLAS(link is external) Detector Operation (ADO) Group, which is in charge of operating, maintaining and upgrading the technical and mechanical (infra-) structure of the ATLAS experiment and detectors.
As Planning, Resource and Project Engineer in the EP-ADO-PO Section, you will directly report to the ATLAS Technical Coordination Senior Engineer and help the ATLAS Technical Coordination team forecast and monitor its activities and resources in order to meet the current (operation) and future (upgrades) needs of the ATLAS experiment. You will also be in charge of specifying the requirements for the evolution of the existing information management tools (e.g. membership, authorship, publication data bases) of the ATLAS experiment and to this end you will supervise a small software engineering team in charge of the implementation of the tools.
You will more specifically:
•Directly collaborate with the Technical Coordination(TCn) Senior Engineer to:
•Develop and maintain the Atlas master schedule and other planning tools, in particular those related to the forecasting and monitoring of activities and resources;
•Work closely with the TCn project managers to prepare and follow up the schedule for their respective activities (integration of upgrades);
•Collect and share updated information on planning activities, inside and outside TCn;
•Participate in planning meetings aiming at monitoring and reviewing overall progress and coordination of activities.
•Directly collaborate with the ATLAS collaboration management to:
•Collect the requirements for the evolution of the existing ATLAS information management tools, such as the data bases related to the experiment members, authors, publications etc;
•Supervise a small team of software engineers responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the tools; in particular to establish the planning and priorities for the maintenance and development work of the information management tool.
