Electrical or Electromechanical Technician in the Technology Department, Accelerator Beam Transfer Group, Fast Pulsed Systems Section.
The Technology Department (TE) is responsible for technologies which are specific to existing particle accelerators, facilities and future projects. Within the TE department, the Accelerator Beam Transfer group (ABT) is in charge of the design, development, construction, installation, exploitation and maintenance of injection and extraction related equipment. Within the ABT group, the Fast Pulsed Systems Section is responsible for the fast pulsed magnet (kicker) systems in all CERN accelerators. These systems comprise high voltage pulse generators, impedance matched transmission lines and low inductance magnets.

Functions
As a member of a small and multidisciplinary team, you will:
•Participate in the surveillance, fault diagnostics and maintenance work on operational fast pulsed magnet systems on the field.
•Assist engineers in R&D activities by organising, preparing and participating in the refurbishment or the construction of new high voltage pulse generators and fast pulsed magnets.
•Assist in the logistics coordination and in the writing of procedures for the assembly, the installation and the commissioning of complete systems or sub-systems.
•Carry out high voltage electrical tests and write test reports.
Qualification required
Higher technical diploma in the field of electrical or electromechanics engineering, or equivalent.
Please note that preference will be given to candidates with the above-mentioned qualifications: In principle consideration will not be given to applications from people with higher qualifications.
Experience and competencies
The experience required for this post is:
•First hands on experience in one or several of the following fields:, testing,maintenance and construction of electromechanical systems.
•Experience of electromagnetism, high-voltage technology, pulsed power applications would be an asset for this position.
The technical competencies required for this post are:
•Maintenance & operation of electro-mechanical equipment.
•Installation & dismantling of electro-mechanical equipment.
•Use of Scientific and Engineering software packages.
•Use of Office software packages.
•Knowledge of electrical measurement techniques including digital oscilloscopes.
The behavioural competencies required for this post are:

•English or French: spoken and written. The ability to understand and speak the other language in routine situations would be an advantage.
